Colleagues,
It’s hard to believe that Spring conference was a month ago already. I hope all of you who attended “Extreme Makeover NeASFAA Edition” came away refreshed, informed, and ready to face your challenges with a new enthusiasm. We are so lucky to have a professional organization where we can share knowledge, commiserate about common problems while seeking solutions, and truly enjoy the time that we spend with each other!
What a fun experience it was to be made over by the team of talented students from College of Hair Design the night of the banquet. I will long remember the comedy of being told to leave my glasses off so that people could appreciate my 3 pound eyelashes, while trying to walk in too large, very high heels. Thank goodness for Ritchie’s arm during the big “reveal!” I asked him to just steer me in the right direction and hold me up. He did a terrific job…and I hear he looked great too, but I couldn’t see him.
The evaluations from the conference were very complimentary and who wouldn’t agree that Joan Jurek and the rest of the PDC did a terrific job of giving the association a well balanced, informative, and uplifting program? Thank you!
I am sure you all understand when I say that there have not been too many spare moments in my office to devote to presidential duties. But Peggy and I have been laying the groundwork by putting together committees for this year. Our next board meeting (when we really dig in and get to work) is scheduled for June 28. One of our biggest goals will be to seek new ways to keep our fiscal boat afloat. NeASFAA has enjoyed a sound financial history and I would like to see us be responsible, yet creative, so that we are able to continue offering quality training and support. Next spring in Grand Island we will make our first attempt at a two-day spring conference instead of three. We also want to explore the addition of a track for fiscal officers. Nikita Baskin from Clarkson College has agreed to assist the PDC in this endeavor. Our neighbors to the south in KASFAA have been doing this for a few years and we thought we would give it a try.
Minutes from the April 14 Board Meeting and the April 15 Business Meeting have been posted for your review. You will hear from your Sector Representatives for input to take to the Board in June. Please do not hesitate to voice your needs, concerns, and ideas to them. We will do our best to serve you well.
Sincerely,
Terri Graham
